The news: The Arlington Community Schools Board of Education met Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the ACS district office, 12060 Arlington Trail. Budget changes, school fees and a new way to grade the superintendent were on the agenda.
First, the fun part: The meeting opened with two presentations: the Arlington High Student Council’s Make-A-Wish check, and recognition for the volleyball team. (Need a refresher? The Tigers finished third at state.)
The money stuff: The consent agenda included Resolution 2026-14, which amends the 2026-27 schools budget. The attached document describes it as a budget amendment “within categories.” That generally means shifting money around inside existing categories. The board also got a budget report, dated Oct. 26, under its reports section.
What else was on the consent agenda:
- Fees and field trips: Resolution 2026-15, which amends the district’s approved list of school fees and field trips.
- State paperwork: The 2026 Local Education Agency (LEA) Compliance Report.
- TISA: The 2026 ACS accountability report under TISA, Tennessee’s school funding formula.
- Minutes: The Sept. 29 meeting minutes.
Grading the boss: The one item listed for a separate vote was approval of a new instrument for evaluating Superintendent Dr. Allison Clark.
Did it all pass? Consent agenda items are usually approved together in one vote. The official minutes weren’t posted when we checked, though, so we haven’t confirmed the final votes. We’ll update this post when they go up.
Who’s on the board: Scott Benjamin (chairman), Dr. Dale Viox (vice chairman), Courtney Barnes, Lyle Conley and Jonathan Dunn.
What’s next: The board’s next regular meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the district office. Agendas usually go up on the district’s Quorum page a few days before.
Why it matters: These votes decide how money gets spent in Arlington’s schools, what families pay in fees, and how the district’s top leader is judged.
